At Kenmount Road Animal Hospital, we offer a variety of surgical services, from routine procedures to more advanced operations. To ensure the best possible care for our patients, we may occasionally refer them to board-certified veterinary surgeons for complex surgeries that require specialized equipment or expertise.
Our team prioritizes your pet’s safety during surgery by tailoring anesthesia specifically to their needs. Before the procedure, we conduct a thorough physical exam and pre-anesthetic testing. Throughout the surgery, we closely monitor your pet and provide pain relief during their recovery to ensure their comfort and well-being.

Spaying – Females
Spaying your female pet prevents pregnancy and reproduction while contributing to a longer, healthier life.
This procedure protects her from life-threatening conditions like bacterial infections, reproductive diseases, and certain cancers. Spaying also eliminates the heat cycle without altering her personality.
On the day of surgery, your pet will arrive in the morning, and her procedure will be performed later that day. She’ll remain under our care throughout the day for monitoring and recovery. When you pick her up, we’ll provide detailed homecare instructions and answer any questions you may have.

Neutering – Males
Neutering male pets prevents reproduction and promotes a longer, healthier life.
This procedure lowers or eliminates risks for prostate and testicular cancer, as well as sexually transmitted diseases. It can also reduce unwanted behaviors such as roaming, fighting, humping, and spraying. Additionally, neutering helps combat the pet overpopulation crisis, keeping more animals out of shelters. While it may reduce territorial behavior, it won’t affect your pet’s personality.
On surgery day, your pet will arrive in the morning, and the procedure will be completed later that morning. He’ll stay with us for the majority of the day to ensure proper monitoring and recovery. At pick-up, we’ll go over post-operative care and answer any questions you may have.

Soft Tissue Surgeries
Soft tissue surgeries focus on areas unrelated to bones, with one of the most common procedures being the removal of lumps or masses. Many of these are benign, but early removal and testing are crucial for more serious cases, such as cancerous growths, to improve outcomes. Regular checkups help identify and address these issues promptly.
Surgery can also correct several eye-related conditions, such as chronic infections or entropion—a condition where eyelashes damage the cornea. These procedures alleviate discomfort, lower the risk of corneal scarring, and enhance vision, ensuring your pet’s long-term health and comfort.
