Rebecca
ERM
Growing up on St. Brendan’s, NL, Rebecca was known as the girl with a passion for helping animals and a dream of working in the veterinary field. After completing her Veterinary Assistant program, she joined Kenmount Road Animal Hospital for her work term and instantly fell in love with the profession. Now in the role of an Exam Room Manager, Rebecca is excited to meet clients and their adorable pets while continuing to grow her skills.
Rebecca has always loved animals of all kinds, having grown up with dogs, mice, a hedgehog, and even a leopard gecko. At home, she enjoys relaxing with her boyfriend, their two Maltese pups, Bandit and Blossom as well as their three black cats, Mickie, Frederick and Sage.
When she’s not at the clinic, Rebecca loves photography, traveling, swimming, hiking, playing video games, watching movies, and riding her four-wheeler with friends. Her favorite time of year is the holidays, when she gets to return to St. Brendan’s to celebrate with family and friends. Rebecca’s enthusiasm, dedication, and love for animals make her a valuable part of the Kenmount Road Animal Hospital team!
Questions
-
What’s your favourite animal and why?
My favorite animal is the tiger—there’s just something so majestic about this big cat. I’ve always been fascinated by their beauty and strength, even as a child. I had a jungle-themed room growing up and a treasured photo of me with a tiger that I’ll never forget. Tigers have always held a special place in my heart!
-
If you could communicate with animals, what’s the first thing you’d ask them?
I’d love to know their favorite show, movie, or song that their owner puts on for them while they’re away. It would be fascinating to hear what keeps them entertained or comforts them the most—it might even inspire some new recommendations for other pet parents!
-
What’s your pet’s name and why did you choose it?
One of my five animals is Sage, a beautiful 2-year-old black cat. I named her Sage because of her stunning green eyes, which remind me of the herb, and her calming presence. She always seems to know when I need to unwind, and her soothing energy makes her name a perfect fit!

What inspired you to work in this industry?
From a young age, I’ve always had a deep love for animals and knew my life’s work had to involve them. Being able to help sick animals recover is incredibly rewarding, and seeing the joy it brings to their owners makes it all the more fulfilling. It’s truly a dream come true to combine my passion for animals with making a difference in their lives.

What advice would you give to pet owners to ensure their pets lead healthy lives?
I strongly recommend scheduling yearly checkups for your pets and considering preventative blood work, especially for adult and senior pets. Regular exams help ensure they’re in good health, and early detection of any issues allows us to diagnose and treat conditions before they become serious. Proactive care is key to giving your furry family members a long, happy, and healthy life!
