Rachel
RVT
Rachel graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Seneca College in 2019 and immediately began her career in an emergency and critical care clinic in Toronto. Her passion lies in providing dedicated, one-on-one care to pets needing extra attention, and she finds immense joy in seeing them recover and reunite with their families.
At home, Rachel shares her life with three beloved pets: Seska, a spirited Cardigan Welsh Corgi, and two cats, Miles and Una.
When she’s not at KRAH caring for your pets, Rachel is pursuing her academic interests by studying for a degree in Political Science and History. Her unique blend of compassion, expertise, and intellectual curiosity makes her an invaluable part of our team.
Questions
-
Could you share a memorable story about a pet you’ve treated?
I cared for a patient who spent three months in the hospital recovering from a broken back. Watching her finally heal and go home to her family was an incredibly rewarding moment—it’s those experiences that make this work so special.
-
What’s your favorite part about working with animals?
My favorite part is providing patient care—making sure they’re comfortable and cared for, even when they’re not feeling their best. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing them recover and go home happy and healthy.
-
What’s your pet’s name, and why did you choose it?
My pets are named Seska, Miles, and Una—all inspired by characters from Star Trek. Their names reflect my love for the series and make them feel like part of my very own starship crew!
-
What advancements in veterinary medicine are you most excited about?
I’m thrilled about the advancements in FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) treatment, giving hope to so many cats and their families. I’m also excited about Texas A&M’s clinical trials for non-surgical treatment of IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), which could revolutionize care for pets with this condition.
-
How do you stay updated with the latest developments in veterinary care?
I stay current by attending veterinary conferences and learning from the close relationships I’ve built with other veterinary technicians. Collaborating and sharing knowledge with peers helps me continually grow and stay informed about advancements in the field.
